Our Story

Welcome to Bamboo Vietnam — A Taste of Vietnam, From Our Bowl to Your Heart

At Bamboo, we believe a great bowl of phở is more than just food. It’s comfort, culture, and connection.

Our story started with a craving. After settling in the UK, our founders missed the soulful flavours of home: the slow-simmered broths, the fragrance of fresh herbs, the unmistakable warmth of a family meal. Those dishes carried memories of Vietnam: street-side phở stalls, weekend meals with loved ones, and recipes passed down through generations.

Growing up, food was always at the centre of family life. Our founder learned to cook by her father’s side — a man who left Vietnam and later settled in Bulgaria, where he met her mother through their shared love of food. In a new place, with unfamiliar ingredients, he learned to improvise, blending flavours and techniques to recreate the tastes of home. Those moments in the kitchen, cooking with care, adapting with instinct, and sharing meals together, still shape the way food is made at Bamboo today.

So we opened Bamboo to bring that same spirit to life: a space where authentic Vietnamese flavours and heartfelt hospitality come together.

Since then, Bamboo Vietnam has become a welcoming spot for homesick hearts, curious food lovers, and anyone searching for a genuine, lovingly prepared Vietnamese meal. From phở and bún to gỏi cuốn and more, every dish we serve is made with care, tradition, and time-honoured technique.

We simmer our broths for hours, wrap each roll by hand, and choose fresh ingredients daily, just like we would at home.
